Not a Dog Whisperer or Horse Whisperer? Become a Room Listener!

The day has come. You've committed yourself to updating your home.
However before you start, consider my favorite approach to decorating and design -
stop before you begin.
Are you saying "I got this far, now you want me to stop?" Yes, it's as simple as that.
In fact after you stop, I ask you to take a moment and sit quietly in the room you will update.
First, really look at and take in the space. Then, close your eyes and think of the vision of the finished room you would like to see when you open your eyes. When designing a room, I like to take time to 'listen' to the space before I head to my drafting board, to my tear sheets or to the design centers for fabrics and furnishings.
As the saying goes "fools rush in." So, don't be that fool! Give yourself permission to think through the space first, so that the best design will unfold before your eyes.
