Five things that are new and different in rug design in 2011 from the Architectural Digest Home Show

When is a rug not a typical rug, but something actually better? When it's a rug designed by Barker-Schwartz Designs.Last week one of the exhibits that caught my attention featured indoor and outdoor rugs by Joyce Barker-Schwartz. Not only were her rugs beautiful, but the durability of her rugs is outstanding.

Schwartz's rugs are actually hand-woven strips of canvas that are approximately 1/2 " wide. Each rug is made to order so that colors and design complement that owner's indoor or outdoor space. They are not only "highly resistant to scratches and stains" according to Schwartz , but perfect for people who have allergies to wool and other natural or man-made materials.
